Roll Your Own Cigarettes
Make Your Own For Under a Buck!
You’re probably thinking what’s the catch? There isn’t any, so read on to find out how.
It’s no secret EVERYTHING is going up – food, gas, utilities, etc. Cigarettes are not exempt.
However…
When it comes to smokes, inflation or any other factor isn’t to blame. It all comes down to a three letter word – TAX.
Federal and Local cigarette tax comprise over 90 % of the price you are paying at the store. In New York State for example, smokers are stuck with $10.00 packs – that’s the monstrous $100 per carton! It’s get even worse in the City, where prices push above $120. Other States are not fairing much better.
But there is another way…
See, cigarettes are taxed differently than the tobacco or rolling supplies, and the savvy smoker who knows the ropes can easily get their own for under a buck.
This is how it works…
There are only two parts to making your own cigarettes – tubes and bulk tobacco. Both can be purchased locally or mail order. Both are CHEAP! In fact, 2 ½ cartons worth of tobacco and tubes will set you back 25 bucks. Talk about savings?
Now that you know the basics, this is how it all breaks down…
The average price of bulk tobacco is $17 per pound and carton of 200 empty tubes is $3 (if you don’t know how to find or where to buy bulk supplies, download our updated “2011 RYO Sourcing Guide” – it’s FREE)
- $17 per pound of bulk tobacco (typically enough for 500 cigarettes)
- $7.50 for 2 ½ cartons of empty filtered tubes (500 tubes altogether)
- That’s $ 24.50 for 500 cigarettes or just under a dollar per pack.
